Finally, I have finished my examination. Have you ever imagine something that you have been doing for the past 4 years are actually over. All those homeworks(Like I did those), Coursework projects and examination papers are all history to me now. Come to think of it, was it actually worth it spending my 4 years in London, doing my Chemical Engineering MEng Degree? My answer is simply yes, but hidden inside with a very meaningful memories and experiences.
My 1st Year
Registering in Imperial, I could have never imagined to be enrolled in one of the best university in the world (6th in the world), I mean the whole wide world man. Ok, stop bragging here. Back then ,MARA(MAJLIS AMANAH RAKYAT), which is my sponsor gave us GBP493.00 pounds per month. I was introduced to a room with an English Roomate who goes with name Simon Johnson. Honestly, being away from MALAYSIA ( I am pretty used to be away from home, but from my country is something truely new to me). I was lucky since Simon was an understanding English Guy who can accept me as a muslim roomate. 1st year, I partied a lot and I can still remember that we usually converted our money to ringgit just to appreciate the amount that we receive from our sponsor. Study wise, then I understand wht did Imperial was ranked the top 10 University in the world. Is was simply so hard to survive here in academic terms! Too many distractions here in London and the weather I tell you, trying to get used to it is a challenge. In a nutshell, the 1st year was my introduction year of living in the London, United Kingdom
My 2nd Year
2nd Year might be the hardest year of the entire 4 years. Imagine, the same amount of money received as the previous 1st year and we need to live outside of the halls. with GBP490, you can barely survive. Imagine renting a room with 3 occupants. Cramped like a sardine in a tin can and we were paying GBP460 including bills per person. So, that alone left us with 30 pounds to spend per month. I wonder how did I managed to go for a ski trip that year and Venice for holiday... Owh I remembered, by the end of the 2nd year I was on a very bad debt of almost 2000 pounds. What a life that was.. Thanks to all my friends all around the UK, those in Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffiield, Southampton and the people from MARA HOSTEL was there to help. My result for the year was not very convincing in fact was quite bad. :P . Luckly at the end of the year, Pak Lah, our previous prime minister annouced that the scholarship to be increased by 100%. How lucly was I, being able to settle all my debt.
Aiyo..So tired..I will update of 3rd and 4th Year soon...
