A new beginning ( I guess)

Again, same words, same reasons - I havent been updating my blog because I was damn busy working. Yup, kerja memang kena kuat baru boleh berjaya (still trying to believe this)

I dont know why, I simply think that I should start to write back into this blog so to get in touch indirectly with my friends. My journey of academic study may be at hold for I have already have a degree (graduating in 21st October in Royal Albert Hall, yohooo). My future plans is to get myself a pHd not now, but in the future thats for sure.

Living in KL(Kuala Lumpur) has a lot of wonderful elements. One of the most noticeable element would be your stomach. After a month of puasa(fasting), 4 days of raya can actually accumulate easily to recover your lost weight during the fasting month. Owh yes, the foods here are lovely and only god knows how many types of nasi goreng and roti canai exists in Malaysia.

Ok, I have not been updating on what I do now havent I? Hence, I would give you some details on where do I work, what do I do and do I enjoy it?

I am working in a company initially called (TIA) . and will soon be called .....(will update soon). it is a investment company which deals in many normal investment activities here in Malaysia. I was given the job of Associate Investments who would be dealing particularly with technical engineering related investments. I really enjoy to be a part of the company since it is a start-up company which progresses very rapidly with a huge capital investments, which was raised by issuing bonds to the bond market. The main reason why I enjoy myself would be because my colleagues started at the same starting line as I am and being the only fresh graduate in the company, I get to learn from all of my experienced colleagues who are always there to share and pour their knowledges without any hesitation. I am lucky indeed, however I really need to prove myself that I can be at par with them easily! We will all be the best company in Malaysia !

WHS 7930

It was a tiring day for me yesterday, I reached KL sentral around 11 pm and I gave a phone call to my brother to pick me up. So, I grabbed a fillet o fish in Mcdonalds but the taste was totally off. It was not that good compared to the ones I used to had in London. Right after finishing the meal, I received a phone call from my brother, the one whos working in Hartamas to pick me up near the monorail station. When I reached the station, my brother was waiting in the car, a black proton perdana V6 as black as the knight rider's car drove by David Hasselholf with the number plate WHS7930. A plate I will always remember.

Upon reaching home, my brother parked the car just beside the car entrance of my apartment down in Damansara Perdana. It was 12 when we reached home. So, once I enter the house, I went straight away to bed and the next morning emerges.

The next morning, my friend as usual would come to my place and pick me up. I got ready quite fast and went straight down and ittended to wait downstairs while giving a phone call to my B. I had a conversation with my B and apparently she was on her way to work in KLCC( Kuala Lumpur Conventional Centre). When I reached downstairs, I walked slowly as if I was trying to enjoy the fresh breeze of KL's morning. I looked straight away without being told to the same spot where my car's was parked. Something weird came across my mind as if lightning strikes my thoughts. I realised something was wrong, something was supposed to be there, something was missing.......

''DAMN, WHERE THE HELL IS MY CAR?''

It has been quite some time now since I last write in this Blog. I was trying to tune up my mind and accept the fact that I had to leave the UK. I have completed my degree and a permanent job was waiting for me in Kuala Lumpur.

Since I was small, I have always asked myself what will I be in the future? Where will I be in the society, how satisfied will I be with my work? All those uncertain questions which leads to more questions in Life itself. So there I was in the past thinking what will I be....And I did venture, and tried to find the answers, some of the answers were:

A Chemical Engineer :

I knew that I wanted to become an engineer right after I received the offer letter to undergo my studies in UK by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). In which Engineering field was not that hard to discover for I have a lot of passion in Chemistry and Physics leading me to choose Chemical Engineering as my degree. Along the way, all those 4 years of studying, I found that Chemical Engineering was a totally broad degree. Lucky to be in Imperial, they taught me well that an Engineer would be involve in three sections of the Industy:
  1. The Upstream - Oil and Gas exploration and diggings
  2. The Downstream - Manufaturing to end products to customers
  3. The Management - The people who makes the decision to actually invest in it.
I joined the downstream team and worked in BASF Petronas and I found myself not being capable to adapt well in the field so I have decided not to venture into Downstream engineering as a career.

A Jedi Master :

I was greatly touched by Yoda's and Obi Wan Kenobi's teaching which had finally corroded my mind to become one of the jedi master. ''Trust in the force you must''. While seeeking an answer, I realised that becoming a jedi, you would not get paid unless if youre acting in front of the screen. Besides that, I am much more attracted to the ''dark force'' and even bought Vader's helmet to understand why did Analkin Skywalker turned to the ''dark side'' I found that being the darker side was much more interesting but after a while you will get exhausted knowing that everyone hates you along the way. So that was when I decided to take off my mask and stop joining the force. I will always remember, Being a jedi is much more complicated than an engineer.

A bus conductor in TFL (Transport for London):

I would check on people's ticket person by person hoping that they have paid their tiket so that I would not need to confront them or telling them to step down from the bus. It was a fun job, being able to learn on other people's attitude, their habit of getting things free which was the ride to work or a ride home was totally an experience. I even remembered how people would pretend to be sleeping and It was one of the job description not to touch any of the passengers and avoid direct contact with them. The reason why I decided not to stay in the job was simply because I had to stand for almost 7 hours a day hopping 22 busses to check on people's ticket. It was not tiring but after a while, it is a boring job. The pay was good at 70 pounds per day making it to be one of my best part time jobs in my life.

An Assasin:

This was the part in my life when I was influenced by those Hollywood Movies. Earning money by killing other people. Movies that I love were The Assasin, James Bond, Wanted, Bourne Identity, Mr and Mrs Smith and many more Assasin movies out there. My point of view was that, you will never know who will you be assigned to kill next and tomorrow will always be an uncertainty to be alive. However, I realised at some point being a killer is simply the most stupid job in the world. For god's sake, people live and are given life by God. Why must we take another person's life by just taking money from another person who was simply too afraid to confront with their own problem. From that point on, I found that the Hollywood Industry are giving out people ideas to become stupid.. So, no more jedi or assassins. I need to get a proper job!

An events manager/hospitality:

Since my 3rd year in University I would go to Northampton to earn money by joining MofazFortec Motorsports. The pay was good and I get to travel all around Europe at zero expenses. Food, clothing and even a 3-4 star hotel included. I travelled to Hungary, Spain, France, Italy and even a few racing circuits in the UK. I would be managing the hospitality unit, satisfying our team with great meals and looking after the logistics of stuff. Besides that ,I was involved directly with the motorsport industry, learning my way and how the system works. It was a very fun job and If I am givin the opportunity I would have venture into the industry. It was a great to know all those people in the industry, the drivers, the managers and the people coming to the race tracks. However, since my UK visa was expiring I needed to go back home to Malaysia. So, I will definitely miss the job.

So, What have I chosen as my career...Jeng jeng jeng....In Kuala Lumpur, Level 28 Menara IMC (Besides Concorde and Hard Rock KL) along Jalan Sultan Ismail....The details will be given...In my next post.

Over

Finally, I have finished my examination. Have you ever imagine something that you have been doing for the past 4 years are actually over. All those homeworks(Like I did those), Coursework projects and examination papers are all history to me now. Come to think of it, was it actually worth it spending my 4 years in London, doing my Chemical Engineering MEng Degree? My answer is simply yes, but hidden inside with a very meaningful memories and experiences.

My 1st Year
Registering in Imperial, I could have never imagined to be enrolled in one of the best university in the world (6th in the world), I mean the whole wide world man. Ok, stop bragging here. Back then ,MARA(MAJLIS AMANAH RAKYAT), which is my sponsor gave us GBP493.00 pounds per month. I was introduced to a room with an English Roomate who goes with name Simon Johnson. Honestly, being away from MALAYSIA ( I am pretty used to be away from home, but from my country is something truely new to me). I was lucky since Simon was an understanding English Guy who can accept me as a muslim roomate. 1st year, I partied a lot and I can still remember that we usually converted our money to ringgit just to appreciate the amount that we receive from our sponsor. Study wise, then I understand wht did Imperial was ranked the top 10 University in the world. Is was simply so hard to survive here in academic terms! Too many distractions here in London and the weather I tell you, trying to get used to it is a challenge. In a nutshell, the 1st year was my introduction year of living in the London, United Kingdom

My 2nd Year
2nd Year might be the hardest year of the entire 4 years. Imagine, the same amount of money received as the previous 1st year and we need to live outside of the halls. with GBP490, you can barely survive. Imagine renting a room with 3 occupants. Cramped like a sardine in a tin can and we were paying GBP460 including bills per person. So, that alone left us with 30 pounds to spend per month. I wonder how did I managed to go for a ski trip that year and Venice for holiday... Owh I remembered, by the end of the 2nd year I was on a very bad debt of almost 2000 pounds. What a life that was.. Thanks to all my friends all around the UK, those in Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffiield, Southampton and the people from MARA HOSTEL was there to help. My result for the year was not very convincing in fact was quite bad. :P . Luckly at the end of the year, Pak Lah, our previous prime minister annouced that the scholarship to be increased by 100%. How lucly was I, being able to settle all my debt.

Aiyo..So tired..I will update of 3rd and 4th Year soon...

My long lost hobby

I cannot remember the last time I gone fishing. I used to go fishing when I was small, a hobby which was introduced to me by my Uncle I call Poksu. During those times, my Uncle was working with my father distributing mineral water around KL(Kuala Lumpur), Malaysia. I can still remember clearly those memorable days when I would tag along with my Uncle going to shops, offices and even houses to drop the mineral water. The mineral water brand was VIT, a simple bottle with an earth logo on it. It was a good product and the demand was high but however my father chose to venture into farming business later(an ostrich farm, I will write a post on it someday).

We distributed the water to the Maybank Office 38th floor( I guess that was the highest floor I have been to till now), pasar seni, some shops in Kuala Lumpur , some houses in Damansara, and shopping complexes in KL. There were two vehicles which we normally drive which was a white ford economy van and another 2 tonner truck depending on the amount of order. After delivering those mineral waters which was in fact bloody heavy and tiring, we would normally stop by in a park in Kelana Jaya, Selangor to go fishing. For those who normally eat Kelana Jaya Seafood, you should know the park which is just beside the restaurant. Poksu will always have his 'joran'( fishing rod) hidden somewhere inside his truck/van. Since parking was not so easy near the park, and sometimes we need to pay in certain areas, we would pretend to make the truck as if it is broken down by opening the trunk to expose the engine. This would somehow get us free parking just nicely beside a good fishing spot near a main road( please do not do this guys, hehe).

I would normally being asked to take the 'parang' (a knife) to dig for some worms in the nearby bamboo tree, under the shade from the sun where, there would be a lot of worms hiding. Before doing so, I would walk across the park scavenging for some tins cans to put the worms in. While doing the digging, my Uncle will go netting for some small prawns in the lake which was easy to catch and put it in our water basin. Both bait would be used to lure different kind of fishes. For prawn bait, you would normally get Talapia fish(red or the normal black), sepat fish, botak fish and puyu fish(sorry for not knowing those fishes name in English). While for worms, you can get Cat fish, Hantu Fish, Bandaraya Fish or any other fishes which I cannot remember their names. Sometimes, we can even get beautiful colourful fishes which you would normally find in the pet store which were released by their owners.

We go fishing for the pleasure of waiting while reading a book(I remember bringing my school book to read by the lake) with one of our eyes looking closely at our floaters connected to our rods for any signs of our bait to be eaten or bitten. Owh, those fishes are not to be eaten because they are not clean. We would put the fishes in our basin and bring those fishes to a lake nearby my house(belakang masjid taman tun) and set them free as the water are cleaner there. I hate to see those floating rubbish in the lovely ponds and lakes around the park. Imagine people throwing all those rusbbish inside the lakes, we sometimes would even lure some slippers, plastics bags, tree branch and any other domestic household rubbish including baby diapers. I can say that Malaysian People are damn dirty and their habit of throwing rubbish almost everywhere are very sickening. I swear If I would be elected to become the environment minister someday, I would ask them to eat the rubbish they throw.

Wow, this post is quite long indeed. I should stop soon as I need to continue studying. Okay, the last time I went fishing was during my 1st year summer holiday and I have always wanted to go fishing in the European rivers catching rainbow trout or probably wild salmons. I would prefer Not to go into the deep ocean for fishing as I believe that sharks eat humans. hehe..Yes I can swim but I simply cannot stand the sea sick but who knows maybe in the future I will be going offshore working and I will bring my fishing rod with me. :P
